Here's to a happy film launch!

They're essentially the same - this one is probably more ideal for people whose computers don't handle Flash well.

P.S - please feel free to share this as you see fit

Here's a copy of the description from the original flash version:

---
Gift of Ages is an animation I made in about a week and a half for my church's Christmas program.

Ah, there's so much to say about this one, but I somehow feel that explaining it will make it weaker. I should hope that the piece is strong enough to stand on its own without my having to prop it up with words.

And so for some of you I might have ruined Christmas. But to everyone else, I hope you've enjoyed this presentation and that it brings new meaning to the secular symbols we see annually.

Programs used: Flash 8, openCanvas, 3D Studio Max, and Sound Forge. All 3D work was done by my brother Brian (thanks!), and the music is Chopin's Etude in E major Op.10 No.3.

Gift of Ages -Prerendered Ver. brilliantly animated by *JohnSu shows a passionate and very personal vision of Christmas. Be open minded and enjoy it for pure expression. ( Suggested by Yunimori and Featured by Marker-Guru )

Still one of my favorite things you've made. Beautiful stuff, man, and it's nice to be reminded that not everyone's afraid of religion and the meaning of Christmas.

I find it funny when movies try to talk about the true meaning of Christmas and it ends up being, like, all about having fun with friends and family. Then it tries to act like that's enough to make it the almost magical time that it is. I mean, would it make sense for enemy soldiers in WWII to stop fighting and celebrate Christmas together if sentiment was all the holiday amounted to?

I like to imagine that "Xmas" and "Christmas" are actually two very similar but distinct holidays celebrated at the same time.

People often confuse the two.

I've watched this video every year as we get closer to Christmas since it was posted. I've shared it with many others, especially my younger cousins as they grow into a better understanding of a faith they've chosen to continue. This really helps tie in the meaning of Christmas-as a Christian-with the secular version of Christmas that we see all around us. Thank you again for posting this. I look forward to watching this again next year, and for as many years as it's available. A bit too early, but Merry Christmas and happy new year!
