In a strange turn of events, what originally started off as a deviation has become a scrap.

I was bored last night and wanted to draw a Girl. But not just any Girl - it had to be a Tragic Girl. So I present to you Midnight's Voice! Brief backstory to follow, after these commercials:

So when Cartesia was a young girl she lost her face and hands in a difficult-to-imagine/make-up accident involving a wrecking crane. While she was able to get prosthetic hands, she could not afford a prosthetic face and so she simply wears bandages over it to hide the disfigurement.

Sometimes her phantom pains keep her from sleeping at night, and as a result it drives her mad in her delirium. During these times she rushes out barefoot into the suburbs, fully convinced that she has to find her face before something happens. She's uncannily athletic and is able to run along walls and perform some wild acrobatics, so the few who catch a glimpse of her fleeting figure believe they have seen a ghost. As her face is hidden and only her rabid monologuing is heard, she's been nicknamed the Midnight's Voice. So far she hasn't done anything except unsettle the locals and rearrange garbage. Other than that, she's a very nice girl when fully awake.

Anyhow, so my main reason for drawing this was her pose. I really like to flesh out a drawing when I lay out a pose I haven't tried before, and this was one of them. However, halfway through stage two (sort of the rough-draft stage just before I lay down the final line art zoomed in) I realized that the awesome pose was also really awkward.

I blame Castlevania for this. I was experimenting with the poses through like ten tracks of the Symphony of the Night album, each of which had a different atmosphere. So you can see that her top arm is kind of in a wild, creepy state, but by the time I got to her bottom arm I was listening to a more dramatic and mellow tune. And by the time I got to her legs the music was all upbeat and adventurous.

From now on I should make it a point to listen to consistent music for inspiration.

Well, though in the end I didn't think I could make it work, it was still fun messing around with this. Abayo~!

tss........ even your scraps looks really amazing.....

When I draw, I have the image really clear in my mind, but my body don't have enough ability/experience to draw what I really want.....
