Well, it's been a long time since I last drew and uploaded anything; my apologies to those who might have been waiting. I know it's a tough job - sitting there passively doing nothing with no one to tell you if you're doing it right.

Anyhow, I present to you Deidre Reid, a strong but kind girl with a love for breaking things and people that borders on paraphilia and sadomasochism. How delightful. Do you want to read her story? No? Excellent, here it is:


== Story ==

Since childhood, Deidre (also called "Dee") displayed an unhealthy interest in massacring her toys. At first her father dismissed it as reckless childish play, but as she grew up she continued to break things such as pencils, rulers, books, and bones (her own and others', indiscriminately). At this point her father began to suspect she had problems, and after much counseling and verbal discipline (the physical kind was not quite appropriate given the issue at hand) he was able to convince her to stop breaking stuff and herself. Dee later amended this agreement to apply only in public. Her father still does not know.

When she was old enough she moved out and obtained a job at a small demolition/deconstruction company. She brought a large steel hammer of unknown origin (though her coworkers suspect she had been using it years before working there and is responsible for the mysterious "Powdered Junkyard" cases in the town's history) to break down walls and buildings. And nobody complains. And she gets paid. Oh my gosh.

She also wanders the streets at night looking for trouble and getting into it so as to have an excuse to break someone or be broken. This is how she 1) gets those injuries and roughed up appearance, and 2) got the nickname Shatter Princess - after the sound your bones make when she breaks you with the "Iron Scepter." There would normally be a lot of legal ramifications from breaking people, but um...we'll say there are no police. It's a strange town.

Alright, so I've found I've had a lot of difficulty drawing something this week - not only do I feel like I'm running out of poses, hairstyles, costume elements, and creative inspiration, but I like to play games and watch anime. Oh well, maybe some more time away from drawing will let the ideas brew.

This deviation also marks the first time drawing in Flash CS4, which I do not like as much as CS3. Something's up with creating a new Group, and all the strokes I draw with the brush are hidden until I move them or paste something. That really slows me down, but I suppose I'll have to live with it.

EDIT: Several people have mentioned that Deidre looks like a character named Chrome Dokuro. I agree. Totally a coincidence, though - I just wanted to give Deidre a hairstyle that looked like it had a crown on it, and it's already been established that I'm a huge sucker for eyepatches. Had I known of this character beforehand, I probably would have designed her differently, but oh well.
